GyrotonicThis unique exercise system offers a cutting-edge approach to movement using key principals of gymnastics, swimming, ballet, tai chi and yoga. Created by Juliu Horvath, a former dancer from Hungary who performed with the New York City Ballet and Houston Ballet, the exercises simultaneously increase range of motion while developing strength and coordination. During the work, the body is encouraged to flow naturally from an arch to a curl. Circular movements are also incorporated so multiple joint articulations are achieved in the spine and extremities. This approach is rooted in optimizing bio-mechanics, enabling movement with maximum efficiency and minimizing stress on the body. Currently, the Gyrotonic Expansion System® is used worldwide with great success by dancers, athletes, rehabilitation facilities, as well as general conditioning for people of all walks of life. At Summit PT, some clients choose to exercise solely with the Gyrotonic system, but most prefer to benefit from all that both Pilates and Gyrotonic have to offer.
